Pi Sigma Epsilon Raises over $18,000 for Indian Childrens Foundation
Pi Sigma Epsilon, a business student organization at Louisiana State
University, put on their 1st Annual Art for the Heart Gala sponsored
by Pelican Urgent Care, January 13th, 2007 at Boudreaux’s
Reception Hall in Baton Rouge. The gala and art auction raised more
than $18,000 benefiting the Cure A Little Heart Foundation, which
provides medical care and heart-related surgeries to underprivileged
children in India.
The Art for the Heart Gala included a silent art auction, featuring
local Baton Rouge artists, a formal dinner, musical performances
by the Mike Esneault Trio, a local Baton Rouge jazz band, and a
“TV viewing area” so gala attendees could watch the
Saints v. Eagles NFL Divisional Football game that so fortunately
played that night. The event would not have been possible without
the generous donations of event sponsors including Pelican Urgent
Care of Slidell, LA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana and Anheuser-Busch
Companies, among others.
“The response to this event has been so amazing and we are pleased to be donating such a large contribution to such a worthy organization,” stated Jenny Amaraneni, vice president of marketing, Pi Sigma Epsilon, Beta Xi Chapter
The Cure A Little Heart Foundation is an organization that raises money to perform heart surgery on Indian children that cannot otherwise provide the money. There are 200,000 children born in India with heart disease each year, and 80% of these children do not receive treatment. For every $1500 donated, one child has the opportunity to receive a heart surgery that can save their life. Pi Sigma Epsilon held the Art for the Heart Gala to help save a percentage of these children’s lives and make a contribution that comes from the HEART.
