h2hThis summer, the Beta Xi chapter will bring restaurants, artists, and musicians from all over the state to Galvez Plaza for an outdoor festival.  Local artists and restaurants will show off their work in booths around the Plaza.  Games and more for kids will also be available.  The afternoon art fair runs from 1 until 4.  All booth rentals go to Camp Bon Coeur the cardiac camps for kids.

Midnight Madness

On March 20, 2010, the hunt is on as students race to the finish in the hottest craze to hit LSU's campus. Midnight Madness is an off-the-wall scavenger hunt with teams consisting of 6-10 players representing numerous campus organizations on a 'Quest for Booty' ending at the stroke of midnight with  a party open to all students.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. They build simple, decent, and affordable houses for low-income families all around the world.

In thefall of 2008, Beta Xi hosted their second EA Video Game Tournament. Over thirty players came out to compete in the Madden Tournament. The chapter was able to raise $288.51 for Habitat for Humanity.

This year, members have the opportunity to help Habitat for Humanity with building homes across Baton Rouge.  Beta Xi helped landscape two homes in April and expects to help build more homes throughout the year.

 

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Ten Pin Tourney

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International is the world’s largest charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

On November 16, 2008, Beta Xi hosted its first annual “Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Ten Pin Tourney” at Don Carter’s Premier Bowling Alley. This event brought in $300 in monetary corporate support, $1400 in prize donations, and $950 in player registration.  After expenses, Beta Xi was able to donate $650 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. At Pi Sigma Epsilon’s 2009 National Convention, Beta Xi received 3rd place in the Top Service Competition for the Ten Pin Tourney. 

 

Art for the Heart

Art for the Heart

The Beta Xi Chapter was awarded Top Service at the 2007 National Convention for planning and implementing the first annual Art for the Heart.  This evening event consists of dinner, music, and a silent art auction to raise money for charities.
